This music was written by Guinga, a unique composer with whom I had the pleasure of spending time in the redwoods of northern California at a retreat for Brazilian-oriented musicians called "California Brazil Camp." The beautiful Portuguese lyric was written by the distinguished Paulo Cesar Pinheiro. In this case, I couldn't come up with a way to make Paulo's lyric story work in English, so I wrote a lyric that was only distantly related to it. Guinga hated that I had done this, which made me sad, but his music is so beautiful that couldn't help myself . Bill Cantos sings this one.

Lyrics

Little lady,
Little miracle of love that fortune gave me,
Charmed me from the start
Gazing up at me, she
Stole my heart
When she was just a baby

Little dreamer
Dressed up like a ballerina, I still see her
Dancing down the stairs
Earnest make-believer
Unaware
How magical a girl can be

But there is magic in the way
Her legs are suddenly much longer
And her voice is suddenly much stronger
So much at once is changing…

Little Princess
If Aladdin’s genie granted me three wishes
What then would they be?
Would I ask for riches?
Would I try
To keep you here beside me?

Little lady
I would fill your days with kindness, joy and laughter
Winter, spring and fall
Happy ever after
Like in all
Those fairytales we used to read

Someday your Prince will claim his prize
Someday I’ll walk you to the alter,
Watch you turn away, try not to falter
While we are saying our goodbyes
My little dreamer
My precious child
You’ll always be my little lady
